Over the course of her career, Martine Gravel has worked both in private practice and within the Legal Department of the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (now CNESST). Her practice is primarily focused upon representing employers and corporations with problems relating to health and safety issues as well as work-related injuries, before the Courts and Administrative Courts.
Being a professor at the École du Barreau since 2000, she teaches public and administrative law (fundamental rights and freedoms, administrative justice, judicial review and legal recourses) and the Loi sur les accidents du travail et les maladies professionnelles to preparatory classes and continuing professional education. She also lectures on the aforementioned topics.
Martine Gravel is a member of the Arbitration Board in matters dealing with employment insurance benefits, enabling her to gain further expertise in this area.
